We are pleased to announce that a new resource has been added to our blog. On May 20, 2014, Cooley sponsored “Cloud Computing in Healthcare: HIPAA and State Law Challenges,” a presentation led by Cooley attorneys Matt Karlyn, Phil Mitchell, and Leah Roffman. The presentation began with a discussion of the current HIPAA landscape and HIPAA implications of cloud computing. It then moved onto contracting for cloud-based services, including structuring business associate agreements and Software-as-a-Service agreements between covered entities and vendors. Readers of our blog may access the slidedeck that accompanied this discussion either by clicking on the link on the right-hand side of this page or by clicking on the Resources link at the top of this page.
